Marek Patrosz

Sr. Building Envelope Consultant

Marek is a well-rounded design professional, with comprehensive knowledge of and experience with: building envelope restoration, code compliance, construction administration, and long-term building maintenance in the Tri State Metro Area. His building envelope experience began as part of a select group of University at Buffalo students and professors working with a local manufacturer to apply cold bending complex geometries to develop prototypes of a progressive modular self-supported façade system from textured rigid sheets of metal. Marek’s fascination with building envelopes lead him to joining a young and talented team restoring a Lower East Side landmark known as the Jarmulowsky Bank Building, where he was introduced to New York City’s rigorous landmark restoration process.

Marek gradually transitioned into a project management role, where his primary focus was working with a wide range of clients to provide restoration and code compliance services. He is a Registered Architect in the State of Connecticut, holds a NCARB Certificate (National Council for Architectural Registration Boards), and has LEED GA credentials. His profound understanding of inter-weaving architectural and engineering disciplines allows him to provide his clients with the information, options, and solutions to best fit their needs.

When he’s not researching new and innovative ways to work with façade systems, Marek spends his time exploring urban and rural landscapes. You can often find him walking upstate NY trails or NYC sidewalks. He recently spent a week traveling between Berlin, Krakow, and Paris, and his next trips include Peru and New Zealand. During the winter months, Marek spends his time indoors exploring area museums and cultural centers.

Joe Contreras

Building Envelope Consultant

Joseph Contreras is pleased to join the team at Sullivan Engineering. Joe fostered his knowledge and passion for hands-on outdoor work at an early age. His grandfather and uncles are master carpenters who have their own business. Joseph studied marketing and finance at Manhattan College. Upon graduating, he returned to the family business, where he dealt with hands-on processes, and learned about budgeting and planning as well. Remaining true to his metro area roots, Joe joined Local 1 NYC, an affiliate of the Bricklayers Union specializing in masonry restoration. As a journeyman for Local 1, Joseph was afforded the opportunity to work on restoration projects at beautiful and historic New York area structures including: Castle Gould, Green-Wood Cemetery and Grand Central Station.

Joe looks forward to merging his field knowledge and academic background to meet new challenges in his building envelope consultant role at Sullivan Engineering. And when he’s not visiting a worksite, you can find him on a hiking trail, a fishing boat, the golf course, or in the kitchen cooking a gormet meal.
