Sullivan Engineering was recently selected to assist one of the five advisory committees, overseeing eight technical groups, who will be working with the DOB to revise the New York City Building Code. The committee we are involved with is the Administrative & Enforcement Committee, which is responsible for providing suggestions to improve the administrative and enforcement aspects of the Code. The first committee meeting was held in early November, and was well attended by various sectors of the construction industry, including: architects, engineers, large public organizations and other government agencies.
Although it’s still early in the process, Sullivan Engineering was reassured to see significant and genuine outreach by the DOB to industry members. Similar to the DOB FISP team, which held industry sessions for firms involved with and affected by façade inspection and regulation, this DOB team also appears genuinely interested in receiving comments and feedback from all qualified sources.
Anyone interested in making suggestions for improvements or revisions to the Code should feel free to contact Brian Sullivan to discuss or pass along suggestions. For additional Building Department information sign up for Building News.
